Annual Watsontown
Community Yard Sale
The Annual Community Yardsale is held the last Saturday of September
each year.
On a similar note of interest:
Several people
have asked me about having the event extended to 2 days. I don't have
the authority to do this, but the town borough Council does. To that
end, I approached the current borough Manager and spoke to them about
the requests I had received on our town forum.
I was told (by a
third party) that the reason it was only 1 day was due to the fact that
the borough had to pay additional money for the local law enforcement
officers providing additional resources for the event.
The
borough manager stated that if enough interest was expressed, they would
go to the borough council as our representative to get it approved.
I'd
like to see it 2 days myself. WABA puts an awful lot of work and
preparation into the event, in addition to all the hard work the
fundraising vendors and the local families put in to the event. It
certainly wouldn't require any extra work to extend it a day longer,
just permission and some funding for our local resources. Why limit the
income our town receives from this annual event to just one day?
Submit
your interest in extending the event to our website and we'll gather
the requests and see that they get to the Borough Manager!

Please feel free to come and join our citizens in this yearly event
that has drawn so much attention in years past. Many local businesses like the Sunoco will be open early for your needs while visiting for the day. Sam and his friendly staff have THE best coffee in town.

Annual Watsontown Community Yard Sale This years date for the community yard sale will be on Sept. 29 2007. Please feel free to come and join our citizens in this yearly event that has drawn so much attention in years past. Many local businesses will be open early. The Watson Cafe' & Deli will be opening it's doors at 5:00 AM this year to supply great food, coffee and specialty drinks at reasonable rates for yard sale shoppers. Stop in and see their Patriotic Wall Mural. Enjoy great food throughout the day provided by local churches and civic groups in the area. |
